Final Entry :)

It has definitely be a long and fun learning journey from GEK 1036. Alot of friends have been questioning me as to why i took this module as a GEM. My answer to them is, it is fun! I really enjoyed the learning experiences and interaction which I have had with my classmates from GEK1036, all thanks to Mr Deng.

So, what did i learn from this course? In a macro perspective, i've learnt and experience (through projects) how culture is an on-going process. Its constantly evolving and changing. Culture is dynamic.

In this course, we learnt how language is being used from culture to culture, how language is being used in a certain setting and the norms of speaking and writing. This can definitely help us in our future communication with people from different cultural group. In a way, the discussions in class are definitely a good activity for us to mingle around with our classmates. Else, I will don’t think I am able to know anyone in the class as our seating positions are more or less the same for every week.
I do enjoy the most in the lecture on Face and Politeness. It is interesting to see the different types of politeness that people used. It will definitely be more interesting if we had the lesson in class  But of course, who doesn’t enjoy a week off for e-learning, right?

This is the second time which I have to blog for my modules. And I must say, blogging is a very good learning experience. Through blogging, it really allows me to reflect on the things which I had “absorb” in class. This reflection helps me to understand the topics taught better and allow me to interact with my classmates by reading (or stalking) their blogs.

The best or most enjoyable experience that I have had in the module is the project work!! I really have so much fun in the project work. Staying in school from 10am to 10pm to analyze the results, write the report and “propose” to SAY WEE!! Haha, it is definitely tiring yet enjoyable at the same time. Nicole, SW and I have so much fun in the course of the project. Though the data collection was abit of a headache as we need to spend quite a significant amount of time with the interviews. But the end results of our presentation proved that our hardwork are all worth it  I believe both of my groupmates will feel the same as well.

Thanks again to my classmates and Dr Deng for such a wonderful experience 

Yes, the project was a very tedious process but time well-spent with crazy people like you both to craft our report and analysis. Haha (:

I can see from your reflection that you have put your heart and soul into the project work and enjoyed it. Thanks for the great commitment.
